Located along the river Tamar, originally this derelict land had received planning permission for five individual dwellings, but we believed that this failed to fulfil the full potential of the site.
The client wanted to develop the land making best use of the riverside views. Taking Architectural inspiration from the traditional boathouse vernacular, the design proposal sits comfortably within its riverside setting.
The site is on a slope, so we designed a five-storey building to the riverfront, which is three-storey to the rear, offering a much smaller scale in line with the surrounding buildings. There are 16 apartments in total designed with open plan kitchen spaces, offering a combination of one, two and three bedroom apartments, with duplex units to the top floor. Generous balconies have been designed to take full advantage of the views.
The project is due to commence in 2020.
