Located in the heart of the historic waterfront town of Chatham, BRL has been appointed to design an exclusive development of 179 one, two and 3 bed apartments. Currently being considered by the local planning authority, BRL has undertaken extensive dialogue with various stakeholders including Historic England, the South East Design Review Panel and local community groups.
Occupying an existing public car park on a steeply sloped site, the design responds positively to several challenging environmental and topographical constraints. Utilising these constraints as opportunities for innovative design solutions, BRL has developed a scheme that maximises the land potential whilst respecting important vistas connecting Chatham Town Centre with the historic Great Lines Park and War Memorial.
Using high quality materials throughout, this development will transform the urban language of the Town Centre and set a benchmark for high quality apartment living in Chatham. All apartments will enjoy extensive balconies and future residents will have access to raised gardens and private leisure facilities. Chatham aspires towards City status, and projects such as this will contribute significantly to the Council’s vision.
The development proposals are a result of highly productive conversations with external stakeholders and a collaborative approach to design with our Client and partners. BRL pride ourselves on this collaborative method of working, using building information modelling and a shared design team vision to deliver inspiring, sensitive yet buildable projects.
It is anticipated planning will be approved in March 2021, with construction progressing towards the end of 2021.
